Course Overview: Sierra BLS, LLC is excited to present the HeartSaver® K-12 course, accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA). This targeted course is specially designed to meet the needs of teachers, administrators, and staff in the K-12 school setting, as well as students who seek to learn essential life-saving skills tailored to the school environment. The course offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes first aid, CPR, and AED training, focusing on situations that may arise within the K-12 educational system.

HeartSaver® K-12 : This course provides a blend of first aid, CPR, and AED use, specifically addressing the requirements and scenarios common in K-12 schools. It covers how to effectively manage emergencies involving both children and adults, emphasizing the pediatric aspect due to the school setting.

Course Objectives: Participants will learn:

- Key first aid principles, including how to treat minor injuries and respond to common emergencies in the school setting.
- CPR techniques for all ages, with a focus on responding to children and adolescents in distress.
- AED use tailored to scenarios likely to occur within schools, including preparation for situations where an AED needs to be used on children.
- Best practices for ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff during emergency situations.

Learning Methods:

- Video-Based Instruction: Engaging, instructor-led videos that employ the latest evidence-based techniques and strategies for emergency response within the K-12 educational context.
- Hands-On Practice: Participants will have ample opportunity to practice these critical skills in a supportive, educational environment to build confidence and proficiency.
- Interactive Scenarios: Real-life, scenario-based learning that emphasizes decision-making and application of skills in school-related emergencies.

Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will receive an American Heart Association HeartSaver® K-12 course completion card, valid for two years. This certification not only fulfills various state and school district requirements but also empowers school personnel and students with the knowledge and skills to act decisively and correctly in emergency situations.
