Target Audience: This combined course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who either need to obtain initial certification or renew their skills in CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support techniques. Applicable in a wide range of in-hospital and pre-hospital settings, this course caters to nurses, medical students, physicians, EMTs, and other essential personnel requiring BLS certification or renewal.

Course Description: The Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course, accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA), offers a comprehensive training program for participants aiming to either achieve their initial certification or renew their credentials. The curriculum is rooted in the latest guidelines and research, ensuring all learners are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective life support in emergency situations.

Course Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be proficient in:

  • Understanding the critical importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival.
  • Recognizing when CPR is needed.
  • Performing high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants.
  • Utilizing an automated external defibrillator (AED) appropriately.
  • Executing effective ventilations using a barrier device.
  • Participating effectively in a multi-rescuer resuscitation team, assuming both leadership and team member roles.
  • Managing respiratory and cardiac arrest situations.

Course Content: The curriculum includes:

  • Updates and key changes in basic life support, reflecting the latest AHA Guidelines for CPR & ECC.
  • Essential concepts of high-quality CPR and the American Heart Association Chain of Survival.
  • Techniques for 1-Rescuer and 2-Rescuer CPR and AED use across all ages.
  • Detailed instruction on differences between adult, child, and infant rescue techniques.
  • Practical training on bag-mask techniques for adults, children, and infants.
  • Comprehensive overview of rescue breathing and choking relief methods for all ages.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, which includes a written test and a skills demonstration, participants will receive a BLS Provider course completion card. For new certifications, this card is valid for two years. Those renewing their certification will have their validity extended for an additional two years, affirming their continued competence in BLS practices.

For those not new to AHA, eCards, it's essential to use the same email address associated with your account for registration continuity.

In instances where you're enrolling someone else in a class, it's imperative to use the participant's email address for registration. We advise against the use of school or work email addresses, as these often have stringent filters that may prevent the delivery of our emails.

Is this an initial certification or a renewal certification?

You are required to have the current textbook for this course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during, and after the class, you do not need to purchase one here. Please choose from the following optional items:
