Target Audience:
This comprehensive in-person Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course is ideal for EMS providers, paramedics, firefighters, military medics, nurses, and other prehospital professionals involved in trauma care and emergency response.
Course Overview:
Developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in collaboration with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT), the PHTLS course delivers the latest evidence-based trauma care practices for providers operating in dynamic, high-pressure environments. This in-person 2-day course provides a systematic approach to trauma assessment, treatment, and scene management through instructor-led lectures, practical skill stations, and scenario-based learning.
Course Objectives:
Participants who complete the PHTLS course will be able to:

Apply a structured trauma assessment using the MARCH algorithm.

Recognize and manage life-threatening injuries including hemorrhage, airway compromise, and shock.

Utilize effective hemorrhage control techniques, including tourniquets and wound packing.

Make rapid, resource-driven decisions in both civilian and tactical trauma scenarios.

Improve team communication and scene coordination during multi-casualty events.

Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course, including all skill assessments and the final exam, participants will receive a PHTLS Provider Certification from NAEMT, valid for four years.

Participants are required to complete and pass the official PHTLS pre-test prior to the start of class. The printed or digital copy of the completed pre-test must be presented at check-in.
